great initiative to combat to the regime – San Francisco Bus Ads Call for Boycott of Israel

This is part of the campaign of sensibilisation of the world before the barabarie of the isarelí illegal occupation in Palestine

Several buses in San Francisco, Calif. will be donning an ad by the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign that reads, “Boycott Israel Until Palestinians Have Equal Rights,” for the next few weeks, that also states, “Stop Anti-Boycott Legislation.”

Other social justice boycotts are listed on the ad including the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama against segregation in the U.S. and the boycott against South African apartheid.

SeaMAC’s ad highlights the discriminatory laws that govern Palestinians in the Occupied Territories as well as in Israel, where “1.5 million Palestinian citizens are subject to over 50 laws that discriminate against them in favor of Israeli Jews.”

A similar SeaMAC ad was taken off a billboard in Chicago by Lamar Inc. in early 2016. In Seattle, where SeaMAC is based, it was not allowed to run the ad on King County Metro buses, even though pro-Israeli groups were allowed to do so. SeaMAC ran a similar ad on buses in Washington, D.C. and three other cities in 2015.

According to a SeaMAC press release, “Bills and resolutions attempting to outlaw the movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel have been introduced or passed in at least 21 state legislatures and the U.S. Congress. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently issued an executive order to create a blacklist of institutions or businesses that ‘engage in or promote’ BDS.”

SeaMAC points out on its website that the U.S. not only gives political and diplomatic cover to Israel, but it also gives over $3 billion annually to Israel in military aid.

It also states, “Criticism of Israel is not criticism of the Jewish people. Israel is a nation-state, and should be held accountable to the same international humanitarian and legal standards as any other country. Any state that gives special rights to people of a particular religion or ethnicity is morally unacceptable.”

Carla Curio, a volunteer board member of SeaMAC, said, “The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is gaining momentum. The government of Israel is frightened enough to spend millions of dollars on false and defamatory PR and propaganda, desperately trying to bully people away from taking citizen action against Israel’s apartheid and ongoing war crimes.”
